Your position is shared with your squad in real time during a game. No more shouting across the field — everyone knows where everyone is. Tactical coordination just got a whole lot easier.

See every teammate's live position on the map as the game unfolds. Spot flanks, coordinate pushes, and react to the field faster than ever.

Why the web app makes these features better

GPS tracking and live positions work from any browser — but a browser tab can't reliably update your location when your screen locks or you switch apps. The installed web app handles this much better, keeping your position live for your team even mid-game. If you're playing from a browser tab and the map goes quiet, this is why.

Chat gives your team a voice

The team chat room lets players coordinate in real time — before the game, between rounds, and mid-action. Call out a flank, rally a push, or just keep everyone on the same page without shouting across the field.

The map gives your team a picture

Live positions turn words into context. "I'm pushing left" means a lot more when you can see exactly where left is — and where everyone else already is. Chat and the map together are the full picture.

What you need to show up on the map

GPS tracking and the live teammate view are available to players who meet two conditions:

• Profile-linked wristband — your band must be paired to your Skirmesh player profile. If you haven't done this yet, pair it at check-in or through your profile page.
• Assigned to a team in the active game— you need to be registered to a team for the current game session. Your field operator sets this up before the round starts.

Both conditions need to be met for your position to appear on your teammates' maps — and for you to see theirs. If you're not showing up, check with your field operator that your band is linked and your team assignment is confirmed.

STEP 1

Open Safari and go to play.skirmesh.net

Open the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad and navigate to play.skirmesh.net. Safari is required — other browsers on iOS cannot install web apps.

STEP 2

Tap the Share button

At the bottom of the screen, tap the Share button — it looks like a box with an arrow pointing upward ⬆. If you don't see it, scroll down slightly to reveal the browser toolbar.

STEP 3

Tap "Add to Home Screen"

Scroll down in the share sheet until you see Add to Home Screen and tap it. The Skirmesh icon and name will appear in the confirmation screen.

STEP 4

Tap Add to confirm

Tap Add in the top-right corner. The Skirmesh icon will appear on your home screen. From now on, always launch Skirmesh from that icon — not from Safari — to get the full app experience.

STEP 5

Allow location access

When Skirmesh asks for location access, allow it. Set it to Always at Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Skirmesh — this is necessary, though on iOS it doesn't fully guarantee background updates the way Android does.

Open Chrome and go to play.skirmesh.net

Open the Chrome browser on your Android device and go to play.skirmesh.net.

STEP 2

Tap the three-dot menu

Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the Chrome browser to open the options menu.

STEP 3

Tap "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App"

The label varies by Android version — both options do the same thing. Tap whichever you see. You may also see a banner at the bottom of the screen offering to install automatically.

STEP 4

Tap Install or Add to confirm

Tap Install or Add in the confirmation dialog. Skirmesh will appear on your home screen and in your app drawer just like a native app.

STEP 5

Allow location access — choose "Allow all the time"

When prompted, allow location access and select Allow all the time. This keeps GPS updating while your screen is off. You can also set this at Settings → Apps → Skirmesh → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time.

Android: One extra step to keep it running mid-game

Android aggressively suspends background apps to save battery — and this will interrupt GPS tracking mid-game. To prevent it, disable battery optimization for Skirmesh:

Settings → Apps → Skirmesh → Battery → Unrestricted

This tells Android to leave Skirmesh running while you're in the field.

Your position keeps updating even when your screen locks or you switch apps. The map stays live for your whole team, not just when you're actively looking at it.
